10 Fat Loss/Weight Loss Recipes Which Can Be Made In 20 Minutes

Weight loss is something we're all looking at, especially as we live through a pandemic where we’ve been eating more than usual due to more time spent at home. We believe that weight loss should be both tasty and effective.

Here, we give you healthy recipes for weight loss that don’t compromise on taste!

1. Lemon Water

The ultimate detox and metabolism booster, this is one of the easiest weight loss recipes there is!


1. 1 glass 300 ml water

2. Half lemon

3. 1 tsp honey


Squeeze half a lemon in a glass of warm water and add a teaspoon of honey.

2. Coriander Seeds Water

This is a great drink to have first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. It acts as a natural diuretic to draw out excess water retention in the body.

It also helps boost insulin production in the body. It also helps in liver health - and the liver is the organ that helps control metabolism in the body.

It can be combined with 7 soaked almonds to start your day.


1. 1 glass (300 ml) water

2. 1 tsp coriander seeds


Soak coriander seeds overnight in 1 glass of water and have it on an empty stomach. Or, boil the coriander seeds in water for 10 mins, cool and drink.

3. Cashew Apple Juice

Cashew apples, or the fruits of the cashew nut, are well known for their antioxidant content as well as anti-inflammatory and wound-healing properties. It helps to burn fat, making it an ideal weight-loss drink. 


1. 2 cashew apples/cashew fruits

2. 1-inch piece of ginger

3. 2 garlic cloves


Grind everything together in a blender and it’s ready to drink!

4. Jeera Water

This is the simplest of all weight loss recipes. Jeera or cumin seeds are rich in minerals like iron, magnesium and calcium, all of which help curb sugar cravings. You can have this first thing in the morning as well.


1. 1 glass (300 ml) water

2. 1 tsp jeera


Soak the jeera in 1 glass of water overnight and consume as soon as you wake up, on an empty stomach.

5. Kale/Spinach Juice

Weight loss smoothie recipes, and green smoothie recipes, in particular, are popular amongst those looking to shed pounds. But a great juice works just as well. Kale and spinach smoothies and juices contain high amounts of vitamins and antioxidants, vitamin C, K, and folate.

These green leafy veggies are also full of gut-healthy fibre, keeping you fuller for longer and keeping your digestion smooth. Add this juice to your list of weight loss recipes this season, as a way to start your day or even as an evening snack or post-gym snack.


1. 1 cup spinach/kale

2. 1 cup celery

3. 1 tbsp coriander leaves

4. 1 tbsp mint leaves

5. 1 tbsp lemon juice

6. 1 tsp ginger


In a juicer, add all the ingredients.

Serve juice immediately.

6. Oats Bran Chapati

Oats are full of fibre and protein and aids in weight loss, as it is digested slowly and hence helps stabilize blood sugar. Oats are a great healthy snack and breakfast option.

Regular oats recipes for weight loss and oatmeal recipes for weight loss are easily available, so we’re giving you something a little different: oats bran chapati, which you can have for breakfast, lunch or dinner!


1. 1 tbsp oats bran

2. 1 tbsp besan

3. Ajwaine a pinch

4. Salt to taste

5. Black pepper - a pinch

6. Water


In a bowl, mix all the ingredients and knead properly.

Kept it aside for 10 minutes

Knead it once more, then flatten and roll using dry flour.

Cook the chapati and apply ghee on it.

7. Vegetable Steel Cut Oats With Yogurt

This is one of the best weight loss breakfast recipes out there. This whole some breakfast of nuts, seeds, proteins and complex carbs will keep you fuller for longer, give you a powerful dose of fibre, more sustainable energy and nutrients that nourish your body.


1. 1 cup steel cut oats

2. 4 cups water

3. 1/2 cup vegetables of your choice (except peas, potato, corn, arbi)

4. Salt and pepper to taste


Heat water in a pot and when it simmers, add the oats.

Add vegetables and cook for around 20 mins, stirring to prevent it from sticking.

Add salt and pepper to taste and cook for 10 mins more until the mixture is creamy.

Pull off heat, top with yogurt and serve.

8. Sprouts Salad

If you’re looking for salad recipes for weight loss, this one is for you. A high protein breakfast can support weight loss by increasing muscle mass, energy expenditure (calories burned), satiety hormones and glucose regulation.

Sprouting also increases nutrient levels, making sprouts richer in protein, folate, magnesium, phosphorus, manganese and vitamins C and K than un-sprouted plants.


1. 1/2 cup sprouts

2. 1/2 cup tomatoes and cucumbers, chopped

3. Salt to taste

4. Lime juice to taste


Combine all ingredients in a bowl, mix well and enjoy.

9. Moong Dal With Nutri Nuggets

Weight loss recipes should be more than just smoothies and drinks, we know! Moong dal is a staple Indian food and good for weight loss.

High on protein and fibre, eating moong leads to an increase in the satiety hormone called cholecystokinin, which helps you stay full for longer and keeps junk food cravings at bay.


1. Dal

2. 6 chunks Nutri-Nuggets (soaked)

3. 2 tbsp moong dal (soaked)        

4. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder           

5. Salt to taste 

6. 1 cup water

7. 1 tsp ghee

8. 1/4 tsp cumin seeds

9. 1 tsp onion, chopped

10. 1 tsp tomato, chopped

11. 1/2 tsp red chilli powder (optional)

12. 1/2 tsp coriander powder

13. 1/8 tsp garam masala


Pressure cook nutri nuggests, moong dal, turmeric, salt and water for 10 minutes.

Prepare onion tomato baghar.

Add baghar to the dal.

Serve hot.

10. Lauki Cashew Kheer

We need weight loss recipes that keep satisfy our sweet tooth, and this works well! Unlike cookies and cakes which are made from maida (refined flour), bottle gourd is rich in dietary fibre, both soluble and insoluble.

When it is combined when combined with milk and cashew, it provides protein, making it protein-rich and low glycemic index.


2 tbsp bottle gourd

1 cup milk

2 tsp jaggery (crushed)

½ tsp green cardamom (powdered)

5 cashews (soaked and crushed)


Grate the lauki.

Cook in the milk in a deep pan on slow flame.

Stir occasionally.

When the milk becomes thick and creamy, switch of the gas.

Add jaggery and mix well and stir continuously.

Add the cardamom powder and cashews.

Serve hot or cold.
