- 1/ 2 cup moong dal
- 1/2 inch ginger
- 1 small green chilli (adjust to taste)
- ¼ tsp turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- Wash the dal and soak for 2-3 hours in ample amount of water.
- Discard the water and grind the dals along with the ginger and green chilli to a smooth paste using water sparingly.
- Keep the batter thick.
- Grease idli moulds with some oil and pour batter into the moulds.
- Steam for 15 minutes or till skewer inserted comes out clean.
- Serve hot with chutney or sambhar.
