Chana Dal Barfi
Instructions:
1. Roast the Dal
- Heat ghee in a pan until melted.
- Add soaked chana dal and roast on low-medium heat until it turns golden and aromatic.
2. Grind the Dal
- Let the roasted dal cool slightly, then grind it into a smooth paste using a grinder or blender.
3. Cook the Mixture
- Transfer the ground dal to a pan. Add milk and stir constantly for about 8 minutes, until it thickens.
4. Add Sweetness & Nuts
- Stir in mishri, chopped almonds, cashews, cardamom powder, and mix well. Cook for another 2–3 minutes.
5. Set & Shape
- Pour the mixture onto a greased plate or tray. Flatten with a spatula.
- Let it cool for 5 minutes, then cut into barfi shapes. Garnish with chopped pistachios.
Special Comments

For an extra melt-in-the-mouth texture, add a splash of almond milk instead of regular milk.

Notes/ Precautions
Soaking Time: Soak the chana dal for at least 2–3 hours for smoother blending and quicker roasting.
Don’t Burn the Dal: Roast on low flame to avoid bitterness and ensure a rich, nutty flavor.
Stir Constantly: While cooking the paste, stir non-stop to prevent sticking or lumps.
Cool Before Cutting: Let the mixture set properly before slicing into pieces to get neat barfis.
